Findings: The results of the research indicate that there is a meaningful relation in the needs of digital archive users. The most of broadcasters in radio channels prefer to use music archives. Therefore we can conclude that the broadcasters prefer to use less archive resources due to the less application of those resources. The resources such as songs, speeches and Quran have fewer applications and are mostly used in ceremonies and special occasions. Radio programs are used less than other programs due to special limitations. Conclusion: considering that the objective of preparing and providing the information was enhancing the information needs of the users and offering services to the broadcasters, so providing better information is depended on recognition of information needs of the users. The suitable recognition of digital archive and the existed resources by broadcasters will result in more application of existed resources in the archive as well as their better application.

Purpose: The current research aims is citation analysis of papers that are published in the field of demography in Iran.
Methodology: The research can be regarded as an applied one and is based on a scientometrics approach. The research population consists of the whole scientific productions in the field of demography in Iran. The citation analysis is based on the first author of papers. Mapping the relationship between the cited authors was done through the Ravar-Matrix and UciNet as two software programs.
Findings: The findings show that the cited authors can be divided into three groups: reference authors, highly frequented, and rarely frequented. The reference authors are the well-known persons in the field of demography in Iran, like Zanjani, Mirzai, Abbassi, Kazemi-Pour, Sarai, Amani, and etc. The website of Iranian Statistics Center was the most cited resource by demographers.

Porpuse: The main objective of this study was to analyze the content of “information retrieval” among papers indexed in WoS.
Methodology: Using quantitative and qualitative content analysis, this study tried to give a complete overview of papers in which “information retrieval” has been tackled. The time period considered in this study was 1993-2012.
Findings: The results of the content analysis showed that out of 389 articles in the field of “information retrieval”, 30% were published in the journal of “Information Processing Management”. Moreover, subcategories of “interactive information retrieval”, “cross language information retrieval”, and “relevance” are the most frequently used themes in these papers.
Conclusion: The findings indicate that information retrieval researchers paid a special attention to the interactive aspects of information retrieval. On the other hand, due to the influence of technology in most countries, and language diversity in the world, a growing interest in research in the field of cross-language information retrieval can be observed.

Objective: This research aimed to evaluate the performance of LIS Association based on the views obtained from board members and managers at the provincial branches.
Methodology: The methodology of the present study was a mixed-method which used a questionnaire along with a written open-ended questionnaire. The target group included board members and officials at the provincial branches. Among 55 members of this target group, 28 of them filled out an electronic questionnaire. The data collected through the questionnaire were descriptively analyzed and then the descriptive questions were analyzed qualitatively.
Findings: The results show the association performance in holding workshops and conferences, in communication with the press and media and the web site of LIS to be “very good” and “good” respectively. However, their communication with faculty members, with students and practitioners in the field, with officials and libraries, with introducing and respecting older members and with the development of the provincial branches were observed to be average. Moreover, their performance in communication with provincial branches, their interaction with other fields and professions, their attempts in introducing the concepts and functions of field to the society, along with the provision of facilities and support to its members, as well as their endeavors to solve the employment problem of graduates etc. were assessed as weak.
Conclusion: Despite the advantages mentioned above, the Association of LIS has many weaknesses and problems that need to be resolved. The lack of sufficient attempt to solve these problems call forth serious challenges against the Association.

Purpose: The aim of the present study was to identify the effect of passing the course of familiarity with Library and Library Science principles on Education Science students’ views in Shahid Beheshti University. It was also aimed to present some solutions to improve teaching this course.
Methodology: The current research was a survey and a descriptive approach was used. Fifty eight BA students of Education Sciences in Shahid Beheshti University that passed the “Library and Library Science principles” course during the past 3 years took part in the study. A researcher-made questionnaire was used to gather data. The questionnaire included closed questions based on a Likert scale. Descriptive analysis of the data was performed using SPSS statistical software.
Findings: The study revealed that library orientation and the principles of organizing the classroom library for the students of Educational Sciences was somewhat effective for them. The maximum effectiveness of this course related to abstracting principles, adjusting the resources list, introducing advanced search tools on the Web and skills for using related libraries.
Conclusion: Library Science is a costumer oriented profession the mission of which is facilitating access to knowledge that users need. It has a noticeable role in training users for using library skills and in introducing librarian tasks to them.

Purpose: Visualization is a new approach that provides more accurate and precise decision-making abilities with less cognitive efforts on the basis of data and decreases the need for the instruction of information perception. Information visualization is a useful and practical tool and relevant to knowledge and information science and seems to require special attention. Therefore, this research was done to study usable instances of visualization techniques in the field of knowledge and information science.
Methodology: The method used in this research was documentary and search in the related sources. Investigatory and explanatory techniques were used to learn about the related literature in visualization.
Findings: The results of studying usable instances of visualization techniques in the field of knowledge and information science indicate that this tool is helpful in areas such as digital libraries (Textual and non-textual information resources visualization, information retrieval visualization, search results visualization, knowledge visualization and user interface visualization), web search results, user interfaces, archives, information retrieval, scientometrics and social networks.
Conclusion: Based on the findings of this research, familiarizing librarians with visualization techniques and using them in various settings seems to be necessary.
