The aim of this comparative study was matching fields of block 4 with bibliographic relationships defined by Tillet, Smiraglia, and FRBR model, as well as assessing the ability of UNIMARC format in displaying bibliographic relationships through block 4. The findings showed that each of the fields in block 4 has the ability to display at least one of the bibliographic relationships. Moreover, there existed at least one field in block 4for all relations defined by Tillet.As the Unimarc block format displays relations among bibliographic backgrounds, assessing this block and its compliance with bibliographic relationships can show the ability of UNIMARC format in displaying the bibliographic relationships, and help implement FRBR model on records produced based on this standard.
