Abstract

Purpose: The present study aims is the assessment impact of motivation on the acceleration of the knowledge management implementation process in Isfahan Oil Refining Company.
Methodology: It was used a survey-descriptive method in this research and the population under investigating includes all managers and employees of Isfahan Oil Refining Company with a diploma education and higher. Sampling method is random stratified sampling proportionate to size. The tool for collecting the research data was two researcher-made questionnaires with the Likert scale. In order to determine the reliability it was used Cranach’s alpha coefficient (0.94).
Findings: The obtained mean for intrinsic and extrinsic motivation was 3/83 and 3/58 (obtained greater than 3) and the effect of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation on the transfer of knowledge and experiences in Isfahan Oil Refining Company was more than average; and the importance of these components was different.
Result: The Results of the study indicated that the intrinsic motivation “self-confidence, sense of duty, interest in work, the desire to team work, the desire to make progress, being targeted, trust and loyalty among employees, the need for security” and extrinsic motivation “delegation of authority, relationships with managers, incentives institutional, organizational justice, organizational policies, evaluation of staff, equipment and information technology, and relationships with colleagues” of the same order listed, are affecting KM implementation process. The results showed that effectiveness of the intrinsic motivation is more than extrinsic motivation on knowledge transfer
