Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to present the performance indicators of public libraries in Iran.
Methodology: The research method is descriptive-survey and data collection tool is a researcher-made questionnaire with 6 performance criteria (job criteria, professional development, professional commitment, human relationships, flexibility and ethical criteria). The content validity of the questionnaire by the professors and Confirmation elites and its reliability, using the Cronbach's alpha coefficient, is 0.87. The statistical population of the study includes librarians of public libraries of grade 1 to 3 countries, including 248 librarians. Independent T test was used to analyze the data.
Results: Findings show that the highest average is related to job benchmark with an average of 4.00. Then, professional commitment with an average of 3.99, as well as a resilience index with an average of 3.96, an average of human relationships of 3.89, a professional development of 3.86, a moral criterion, and a supramental program of 3.79.
Conclusion: The results show that the six indicators include the job criteria, professional commitment, human relationships, flexibility and ethical criteria are considered by librarians. The indicators can be used to evaluate the performance of public librarians.
