Abstract

Purpose:This survey investigated   the awareness level of Citizenship rights of librarians and public libraries’ members who are over 18 years while these libraries are considered as a center for lifetime learning and their social functions are scrutinized.
Methodology: The descriptive-survey method is used in this applied research. The data are gathered by the questionnaires which are made by the researchers. The questions are designed according to Likert Scale. In this research, thirty-two public libraries with their sixty-four librarian and 21529 members (over eighteen years) form the statistical population. According to Morgan Table, the random sample is 55 librarians and 377 members who are over eighteen years old. The data are analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics using SPSS 24.
Findings: The findings based on the ideas of librarians and members showed that the following cases are less than average in public libraries: 1- knowing   about   the Islamic Republic’s citizenship rights 2- The facilities, resources and current capacities of the public library to teach citizenship rights 3- the role of public libraries to improve the awarning of citizenship rights 4- the role and position of the librarian to teach and facilitate the lifelong learning.
Conclusion: The current research is the first research carried out on the Study of the Awareness Level of Citizenship Rights for Librarians and Public Libraries members of Shiraz and Its Role in Lifelong Learning.
