Abstract

Purpose: In this study, while reviewing the status of management information systems in libraries; issues such as applications, advantages, and limitations of these systems have been proposed.
Methodology: This is a Review study.
Findings: Library users are expected to vast amounts of information and sources of information will provide for them as soon as possible. Increasing volume of information on the one hand and on the other hand the necessity perennial problem of lack of libraries funding has doubled the need for optimal management of these centers. A library management information system in addition to solving the majority of these problems will have a positive impact on management decisions.
Conclusions: Today, the development of management information systems has become an inevitable matter in organizations because these systems provide information for awareness of managers in different levels of the organization to making appropriate decisions. A library also as an independent agency or a subsidiary of its parent organization follows from management principles.
